A life of convenience.

Confession: I loathe doing laundry. It is the bane of my very existence, if I can be so dramatic. *Sort, separate, wash AND dry load by load, fold, match socks, put away... bleh... it irritates me so. I'll gladly clean a crusty bathroom + nasty windows any day.

In our humble home dirty clothes/linens pile up & pile up until a. we run out of things to wear, or b. we've used our last clean towel. Then Dan-- who can't be bothered with housework, you see-- gently asks if I ever plan on doing laundry again...?

PLUS the washer & dryer in our creepy basement costs a whopping $4 per load! That's a lot of stinkin' quarters and it further perpetuates my laundry dismay.

So imagine my delight when I discovered a 'wash & fold' laundry service right down the street! That's right-- they wash, dry and fold our soiled goods for a mere 0.65 cents/pound! It was too tempting to pass up. I walked right home, packed up our laundry, and hauled it back for professional cleaning.

42lbs, $26.00 & 12 hours later, our clean laundry was delivered- for free!- back to our door. Based on our estimates the service cost an additional $2.00, well worth it if you ask me. All Dan had to do was put it away
;)

Tell me you wouldn't do the same...

But that's not all. Within 2 blocks of our house is a variety of about 50 dish-delish restaurant/take out options, coffee shops, Walgreens, a farmer's market/independent grocery store, Wells Fargo, shoe repair shop, and the list goes on.... there's nothing we can't find in a 8min walk. Now, this is all fine & dandy except that I-- the sole dinner preparer of our family-- have become quite lazy. Why would I cook when we can pick up the phone or walk down the street and have Mexican, Thai, Chinese, French, Italian or delicious Americana cuisine in 30min?

Moral of the story: homeboy is deprived of home-cooked meals and our fridge is in a sad, sad state... but we eat like kings!

Here's a peek at what lies just around the corner from our happy home:

fun fact: Robin Williams (who lives about 7 blocks north in a fancy-dancy 'hood) apparently frequents Gordo-- the scrumptious taqueria on the right :)
